If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise

In two days it'll be five years since the devastaion of Hurricane Katrina. This is a trailer for Spike Lee's follow up of "When The Levees Broke"(which is AWEOMSE. Long but worth the 8hrs)-

Islamophobia

In the wake of the constant talk of the "Ground Zero Mosque", which is actually a community center, certain right wing pundits have suggested the proposed "Islamophobia" by left wingers isn't the case, and America doesn't have a problem with Islam or Muslims....

...really?

Even after this...

Or this....

Or how bout all of this....

http://mediamatters.org/research/201008260020

Now how could any reasonable person, in light of all that evidence, think America doesn't have an Islam problem? Now listen, I'm not a religious person. I think that equally more evil and bad is perpetuated through these institutions because they're mired in bad thought processes and ultimately ego trips. All religions share the same truth but no one can sift through their own bullshit to realize it. That's why you have so many denominations of Christians! I never got that. They all believe in Jesus, but they have their own way of doing it? Whatever, all I'm saying religion causes more problems than it fixes. And it's truly a shame. Look at this situation.

This is another basic civil rights issue. Just like gay marriage, another hotly contested item here in America, religion seems to take the forefront of logic. First amendment gives rights to citizens to freedom of religion.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION.

Which means Muslims have the right to build a mosque WHERE EVER THE FUCK THEY WANT TO! This is a non issue. And I know some people will say it's not right because it's too close to ground zero(even though a mosque has been mere blocks from the two towers since... BEFORE there were 2 towers there)because of what happened on 9/11. Here's a news flash, Muslims died on 9/11 too. How come people conveniently forget that? Must we demonize an entire religious group because of the act of the few. The extremists that made the decisions to commit such heinous acts on 9/11 are to blame, not Islam. Period. The discussion should end there. Because if it doesn't, then why don't we treat CHRISTIAN EXTREMISTS the same way? How come no one bitches about their religious path but Muslims are made out to be villainous and evil.

It's ignorant. And it's wrong. Borderline bigotry masked as sincerity. I'd have more respect for these people if they came out and said it. The open aired sense of hatred, racism, and homophobia in this country is enough to make a man scream!

What they fuck's happening to our country?

Glenn Beck Rants Inspire Violence

This story made it's way to the papers earlier this month but for some reason wasn't readily reported on. For the life of me I don't know why CNN, or hell, even MSNBC didn't pick this one up but who knows. Perhaps I missed their coverage of the story. Anyways here's the major points care of the "Washington Post"

Late on a Saturday night two weeks ago, an unemployed carpenter packed his mother's Toyota Tundra with guns and set off for San Francisco with a plan to kill progressives.

When California Highway Patrol officers stopped him on an interstate in Oakland for driving erratically, Byron Williams, wearing body armor, fired at police with a 9mm handgun, a shotgun and a .308-caliber rifle with armor-piercing bullets, Oakland police say. Shot and captured after injuring two officers, Williams, on parole for bank robbery, told investigators that he wanted "to start a revolution" by "killing people of importance at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU," according to a police affidavit. His mother, Janice, told the San Francisco Chronicle that her son had been watching television news and was upset by "the way Congress was railroading through all these left-wing agenda items."

Now I know what you're thinking.... who could have possible been reporting on the Tides Foundation(http://www.tides.org/) in such a manner that this guy would packed up a car, and be ready to rain down a hail of bullets on innocent people? Hmmmm....

Thank you Media Matters. Great website. Do check them out.

Now... I'm not BLAMING Glenn Beck for the fact that this Byron Williams fellow going off on this excursion of sorts... but... he should shoulder some of the responsibility for being really the only person in the news spectrum talking about the Tides Foundation. To date he hasn't mentioned the shooter or the fact that he was partly responsible for inspiring these acts. Sure the press has the right to say, and report what they want to, and God knows Beck will say whatever the hell he wants, regardless of what other people think. But is it right?

Somewhere down the line I've come to realize that the news in our nation isn't about what matters. It's all entertainment. And while that sucks, I have to recognize these companies needs to sell commercial time to stay afloat. But when you let your hosts go on air and just spout utter nonsense to the general public, it's dangerous.

Very fucking dangerous.

And the result could have been loss of life in this instance.

Stop already Glenn. Before another one of your ignorant followers plans another act of terrorism.

I'm Baaaacckkkk

Howdy partners.

Yes it's been damn near a year since I've made an effort to report anything on here and to be honest, I guess it was a combination of a few things. 1) My laptop died. and 2) I just grew apathetic over the news cycle. But I figure it's time to start writing again. It gives me a good place to vent my frustrations for sure. Because there are so many stories not being reported in the main stream media, that fucking should be. So let's get this started....

Interracial Couple Denied Marriage License... Say What Son?

Sup Super Friends:

So I'm checking the news cycle, online of course, screw the tele, and I come across this on Huffington Post(which by the way, if you wanna get some good news check out her site. It's mos definitely what's up) and I come across this story from the AP. Please read it and weep....

AP) NEW ORLEANS A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have. Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."

Bardwell said he asks everyone who calls about marriage if they are a mixed race couple. If they are, he does not marry them, he said.

Bardwell said he has discussed the topic with blacks and whites, along with witnessing some interracial marriages. He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.

"There is a problem with both groups accepting a child from such a marriage," Bardwell said. "I think those children suffer and I won't help put them through it."

If he did an interracial marriage for one couple, he must do the same for all, he said.

"I try to treat everyone equally," he said.

Bardwell estimates that he has refused to marry about four couples during his career, all in the past 2 1/2 years.

....... I mean really? I have a feeling this guy's 2 1/2 years of work is about to go down the drain. His reasoning is flawed. Does this idiot know that the President of the United States is born of an interracial couple?

I think it's really, really sad how people exert so much energy and cause mad frustration for folks like myself over things like race. Did you know that your race is determined by less than 1 % of what makes you you in your DNA? LESS THAN ONE PERCENT. How could something so minuscule cause such silly sad shenanigans. It's truly tragic.

Perhaps if we had some sort of choice in the race we were born, then maybe I'd understand. We all know that's not the case though. You're born whatever skin tone you get and that's that. So why take so much pride in something you had no control over? You didn't get a say in the matter, it's the cards you were dealt. Just like what nation you're born in. I'm not saying don't be proud of who you are, or where you were born, but don't be arrogant and ignorant of the things and those around you and the fact that these things are of little concern in the big picture.

Ill be happy when the day comes when what color your skin no longer matter. When whenever I fill out a job application, or take a standardized test I won't have to check what racial affiliation I belong to. When the color of my skin is the last thing I'm used to describe me of pigeon old me to some sophomoric stereotype.

We're all part of the HUMAN race.

If we don't start taking care of each other, treating those the way we want to be treated, we'll kill ourselves from the inside out.

Some day we'll get it right.

Or perhaps die trying...

How can somesone be against GANG-RAPE?

Morning:

I saw this story on he Daily Show a couple nights ago after work. I was chillin at home with the lady and John Stewart, the best news reporter in the land(how sad is that the best news is on Comedy Central?) and he starts talking about this story.

"In 2005, Jamie Leigh Jones was gang-raped by her co-workers while she was working for Halliburton/KBR in Baghdad. In an apparent attempt to cover up the incident, the company then put her in a shipping container for at least 24 hours without food, water, or a bed, and “warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she’d be out of a job.” Even more insultingly, the DOJ resisted bringing any criminal charges in the matter. KBR argued that Jones’ employment contract warranted her claims being heard in private arbitration — without jury, judge, public record, or transcript of the " ( for more on the story go here -----> http://thinkprogress.org/2009/09/16/jones-sue-kbr/)

Now AL Fraken proposed a bill that would make it illegal for companies to make you sign any document that would prevent you for suing them if the contract "restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court."

The ammendent passed 68-30... 68-30... that means 30 people thought it was wrong for you to be able to sue a company if you were sexually assualted at work. Like Jaime's cased, as case where she wasn't just raped, but GANG RAPED, then put in a box without food or water for a day. How the fuck do you vote against this? Honestly? I mean it just comes down to having some sort of moral fiber and compassion. 30 Republicans(wait for the list at the end) though this bill was a bad idea?

WHY?

WHY?!

I don't understand. How conservative does someone have to be to be Pro-gang rape to save some company money? This is ridiculous. I was so mad when I read up on this story I broke my cigar mid smoke. If your senator voted against this, call or email him and ask why. I am.

Here's Jon Stewart with the comic relief:
